The Google Apps Dashboard has been updated to display a service disruption for Google Talk and Google+ Hangouts

A number of users are reporting that Google’s chat service Gchat and Drive are both down. The earliest reports (noted via Twitter) began trickling in around 12 p.m. ET on Monday.

Service has been spotty for some Google account users, both for general/personal accounts as well as paid Google Apps for business customers.

But Gmail in general is still up and running. A quick check of the status verification website DownForEveryoneOrJustMe indicates the service is still working and no updates have been made to Google’s Apps Status Dashboard. UPDATE: The dashboard now shows issues with Google Talk, Google Sheets and Google+ Hangouts, which includes the Gchat function.

For some, Gchat is unable to send messages. Meanwhile, others trying to access Google Drive are receiving this error message: “the server encountered a temporary error and could not complete your request.”

“We’re investigating reports of an issue with Google+ Hangouts,” a Google spokesperson told Mashable. “We will provide more information shortly.”

The last major disruption of Gmail occurred in January, when the service suffered two major outages over the course of two weeks.
