Apple Reportedly Cutting iPhone 5C Orders

iphone-5c

Apple is cutting orders for iPhone 5C from its Taiwanese assemblers, possibly due to lower-than-expected demand, The Wall Street Journal reports citing people familiar with the situation.

According to WSJ’s sources, Apple told Pegatron Corp. it would cut orders by less than 20%. Hon Hai Precision Industry, which also assembles the iPhone 5C, was told the orders would be cut by one third.

Apple said it has sold 9 million iPhones 5S and 5C during the first weekend of sales — a new record for the company. However, Apple did not specify how many iPhone 5Cs were included in those 9 million.

Even if the cheaper iPhone 5C is selling worse than expected, it seem the premium model, the iPhone 5S, is selling well. The WSJ’s sources claim Apple has raised orders from Hon Hai for the iPhone 5S for Q4.
